January Meet-Up Calendar
Looking Ahead
It has been a very trying past eight weeks for ole’ Table Master. I’ve learned a lot through these adversities, and will be making adjustments to my output on this platform accordingly. The content of this substack is not going to change significantly, but the flow of original output will see a bit of a reduction in lieu of higher quality original content. February will mark the first monthly newsletter format— hopefully feeling more like a digital periodical. There will still be some weekly updates and prompts, but I intend to reserve the good stuff for a single monthly drop going forward.
Despite it being January 8th, Summer is coming! With it, come summer seminar courses, and many amongst the readership of this stack either have participated as a teaching assistant for me, or are interested in moving into that role. I had planned to open the applications for these positions prior to the Holidays back in December, but due to unforeseen elements the application will not open for at least another week. I am in the process of ironing out what the position will entail, and what the best process for evaluating submissions will be. I appreciate your patience with me as I am largely creating aspects of this experience in real time— and the learning curve is unpredictable at best, and steep at worst!
In closing I just wanted to express my deepest thanks for those of you who have come out to show support for this fledgling community. I began offering the meet-ups back in January of 2025, and it has been so validating to see how many people show up, show out, and bring new friends into the fray. If there is anything about this hobby that fulfills me the most, it’s getting to see people enjoy playing together, and y’all have not disappointed. Thank you again for all the time, and memories— and here’s to all the new ones still yet in store for us in 2026. Right now there is a lot of instability and uncertainty here in my home state. So many things are happening around us that for many experiencing it defy what we understand goes in to being an American. It is in times like these that I have to remind myself that the U.S isn’t a government or even a collection of competing political ideas and agendas. It is people. Ordinary, average people who largely want to simply live their lives in relative peace. In these difficult times, we need each other most— which is why this relatively tiny community is still here. None of us can make the scary stuff just poof away— but we can carry the weight of witnessing and experiencing all these unprecedented times have to offer. We are all in this together, and now you know that at least one other person won’t give up pulling. Be safe. Be well. Be free!
